He looks at her like something might be moving on her face. What does she mean by 'no'? Yesterday she was not in the photos. Today she is in the photos. The only reason he isn't stomping his foot and calling her out is because he knows he's been an unreliable narrator in his own life story. He doesn't fully trust his own grip on reality. Maybe she was in the photos all along and he just-- well. He doesn't know. But his mind does abnormal things to protect him from all these cumulative damages.
