Arthur's expression is severe, his face turned more towards the kitchen window than Helly's voice, but they've been cohabiting for long enough now that she'll probably recognise it as his thinking face.

"When I tried to speak with him, he said..." He has to rub his face, try and think through the panic and the fog in his brain at the memory. "He said he was hired to, um. To care for the people of this town, but also as physician to Sweetwater itself. I don't think we can discount the idea that he means that literally, that Sweetwater is something... independent, something more."

He sighs through his nose. "We simply don't have enough information between us for a better picture yet."
