Sokka hasn't been to Bucky's in a while because he's been preoccupied with his personal research and investigations, but he's been wanting to pick his brain about what happened on New Year's Eve. The only reason he hasn't yet is because he has to schedule the visit around school, homework, and a bunch of other mundane activities that don't matter at all but help keep the locals of the community off his back. It's a delicate balance, but Sokka is trying to maintain it so that he doesn't arouse too much suspicion.

Upon arriving, Sokka rings the doorbell, waits, and then rings it again. When Bucky doesn't answer, he gets a little suspicious and tests the door, only to discover that it's unlocked. Which makes him even more suspicious, because in Sokka's opinion, this is not the kind of place any warrior worth his salt would ever leave himself vulnerable — and an unlocked door is a vulnerability. He takes out his boomerang and tiptoes his way inside, listening for threats and looking for evidence of foul play.

He finds none of that, but he does eventually end up finding Bucky in his bedroom, curled up on the floor. Sokka doesn't sheathe his boomerang because he doesn't know what caused this and someone has to be on alert, if Bucky is incapacitated. He hurries to his side and crouches down beside him, not touching him just yet, because he doesn't want to do anything until he knows what's going on — and what kind of state Bucky is in.

"What happened?"
