Beth shrugs. If he wants to know about personal stuff, it's not the worst thing that's happened in this stupid department store. It's not like he's asking about something she doesn't want to talk about; prayer seems so far from everything in her life that it doesn't feel personal at all. You do it in church, and she hasn't been to church in years. At home, before bed, too - but she hasn't had much to say to God since her father was killed. If she still has faith, and she tries to, it's broader than just in a higher power.

In the moment, she's more curious than anything. "Why'd you ask?"
